
Thanks to all that made the trip to Idaho Falls for the 3rd Annual Allan Butler Criterium. Results have been posted below. We know that we have some gaps in the results. please contact Rob Van Kirk to add a placing or help us figure it out. Mostly the problems are in the category IV and V race. Thank! and see you next year. Oh and the bonus race in Jackson on Sunday had near double the participation from last year. Those guys hope to move the race to downtown Jackson next year. So make plans for next year!
For those that didn't have the chance to know Allan, the first photo depicts a determined young man as part of EDC's Espoir Team in 1997 then a few years later as the consummate champion with Logan Race Club. Later that early year in June of '97, Allan won the Utah State Championship with his teammate Tyler Servoss finishing a squeaker third to Jay Smith. Rob drove the break of six including Tyler, Martin Grygar, Rodney Mena, Eric Marland, and one other. Uhl Albert and I kept the main field in check with Uhl driving tempo and me covering attacks and protecting Allan. At the bottom of the finishing climb I told Allan to stay on Jay Smith's wheel and drop him at some point along the way. Allan and Jay soon bridged up to the remnants of the break except for Tyler who had dropped the break himself.
Allan's development as a cyclist, human being, friend to many of us, husband, and dad set an example for all of us.
